Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe heads to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Tuesday night under mounting pressure, with his side’s poor away form placing the manager under the spotlight ahead of the Premier League clash.
Newcastle travel on the back of a three-match losing run that has dropped them into the bottom half of the table, intensifying scrutiny on Howe after the 3–2 home defeat to Brentford at St James’ Park.
Tottenham head coach Thomas Frank is also feeling the heat following Spurs’ 2–0 loss at Manchester United on Saturday, a result that left the London side closer to the relegation zone than the European places.
Spurs had been unbeaten in four matches before that defeat, with recent tactical tweaks delivering improved performances, including Champions League wins and a 2–2 draw against Manchester City.
Tottenham will be without suspended defender Cristian Romero, while injuries have ruled out James Maddison, Kevin Danso, Dejan Kulusevski, Rodrigo Bentancur, Mohammed Kudus, Richarlison and Destiny Udogie.

Newcastle on the other hand, remain without Fabian Schar, Tino Livramento, Emil Krafth and Joelinton, while Lewis Miley and Anthony Gordon face fitness tests.
Howe’s side have struggled badly on the road, recording eight defeats and just two wins in their last 13 away matches, conceding seven goals across their last two trips.
With Tottenham showing signs of improvement despite ongoing absences, and Newcastle’s travel woes deepening, the hosts will sense an opportunity to compound Howe’s difficulties and claim a vital home win.
