The Yobe State Police Command has launched a manhunt for a condemned inmate, Abba Hassan, who escaped from the Maximum Security Custodial Centre, Potiskum on October 31, 2025.
Dungus Abdulkarim, Police Public Relations Officer of the command and a Superintendent of Police, disclosed this in a statement.
In the statement he issued to newsmen in Damaturu on Saturday, Abdulkarim said the fugitive is an indigene of Maiduguri, Borno State and had been sentenced to death before his escape.
He said the command had alerted security agencies, transport operators, community leaders, and vigilante groups within Yobe and neighbouring states to be on the lookout for the escapee.
The spokesman advised members of the public to remain vigilant and report any information that could aid in the re-arrest of the inmate to the nearest police station or correctional service facility.
