Former Nigerian international, Osaze Odemwingie, has expressed his readiness to join a lower league club after staying for months without a club.
Signed on loan from Premier League Stoke City in March, the Nigerian star made a favourable impression during two months on loan at Ashton Gate.
But it has been downhill ever since he returned to Stoke City at the end of last season. Odemwingie was released by the Potteries club at the end of his contract, since when he has been unable to find a club.
The 35-year-old admits he is prepared to drop down to League One in a bid to revive a playing career that has effectively stalled.
“I’m prepared to drop down in the short-term until the end of the season,” said Odemwingie, who scored two goals in seven appearances to help preserve City’s Championship status last term.
“By then I will, hopefully, have attracted some interest from the Premier League or one of the European leagues. I will play my way, starting from scratch, to get back to whatever level I can make it to.
“I need a window to show what I can still do. I’m not afraid to be on League One money, I’m just a big kid who misses football. I want to serve a purpose and show people you don’t have to give up. I’m absolutely prepared to go down a level – I have nothing to hide.”
