Dr. Chris Okafor, the Senior Pastor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministries, also known as Grace Nation Liberation City, on Sunday returned to the pulpit at his Lagos church, receiving what was described as a “hero’s welcome” by members after a month-long absence following his face-off with Nollywood actress, Doris Ocala.
Okafor’s return followed a temporary step-down in early January 2026, which he attributed to a need for a personal retreat.
This was also a period of honeymoon for him following his December 2025 wedding.
Ogala had levelled several accusations against him, including claims of a long-term affair (dating since 2017) and a broken promise of marriage.
She also accused him of rape, sexual misconduct, and financial deception.
Furthermore, she allegedly linked him to the death of her brother and claims of rituals at his church.
Okafor has denied all the specific allegations, describing them as cyberbullying and “malicious lies” driven by a desire for social media traffic.
He had previously knelt before his congregation in late December to apologise for “past mistakes” generally, without admitting to the specific crimes alleged.

The case remains under investigation, having been moved to the Zone 2 Police Command, with headquarters in Onikan, Lagos State.
However, in videos shared by the church’s media, Pastor Okafor was on Sunday received by his members who welcomed him with dancing, singing, and jubilation.
In the footage, choir members in blue uniforms presented him with flowers and held placards as he moved through the crowd.
The leadership and members publicly rallied around him, giving him a clapping ovation while calling him: “God’s choice servant.”
Addressing the congregation, Okafor thanked them for their prayers and patience during his retreat, while maintaining his innocence regarding the specific allegations.
Critical and mixed reactions have trailed behind the warm reception within the church, where many users called for further accountability despite his previous public apology.
