NPFL: Insurance loses points at home

Bendel Insurance FC failed to take advantage of their match day 10 game when it drew 1-1 with the visiting Rivers United FC at the University of Benin Sports Complex.

The game, which began on a promising note for the home team, saw them taking the lead in the 12th minute through Ugwu Michael.

However, the “Arsenal of Benin” impressive play for most part of the first half failed to yield the desired goals as the half ended 1-0 in their favour.

On resumption of play, however, Insurance continued with their dominant play, but the needed goal was thwarted by the visitors with a water tight defensive line.

NAN reports that what seemed to be an officiating error against the home team resulted into an equaliser in the dying minutes of the game, when Rivers United latched-in on the error and scored.

Insurance coach, Baldwin Bazuaye, while heaping praises on his players, attributed the failure of his team to clinch the full points to officiating.

Bazuaye said: “This was how we were robbed in our last game and today, the same thing has happened.

“Our officials, referees must be up and doing if the game is to move forward in the country.”
