The National Judicial Council, The Eagle Online gathered, has forwarded the names of three justices of the Court of Appeal to President Goodluck Jonathan for the confirmation of one of them as the President of the Court of Appeal.
The position of the President of the Court of Appeal became vacant following the suspension of Justice Ayo Isa Salami, who has now retired.
The names forwarded by the NJC to Jonathan in order of seniority as a source told The Eagle Online on Friday are: Justice Dalhatu Adamu, the Presiding Justice of the Kaduna Division; Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa, who is currently acting as the President of the Court of Appeal; and Justice Amiru Sanusi, Presiding Justice of the Abuja Division.
Traditionally, the most senior judge emerges as the President of the Court of Appeal.
The NJC is headed by the Chief Justice of the Federation, Justice Maryam Aloma-Mukhtar.
The NJC met on Thursday.
The decision to froward the names of Adamu, Bulkachuwa and Sanusi to Jonathan was one of the decisions taken at the meeting, The Eagle Online was told by a dependable source.
