The Nigerian Meteorological Agency has predicted partly cloudy to cloudy morning conditions over the Central States of the country on Thursday with chances of localised thunderstorms over Niger, Jos and Nasarawa.
NiMet’s Weather Outlook by its Central Forecast Office in Abuja on Wednesday also predicted day and night temperatures in the range of 32 to 39 and 17 to 26 degrees Celsius respectively.
It added that there would be prospects of localised thunderstorm over Abuja, Bida, Lokoja and Jos in the afternoon and evening hours.
The agency predicted that the southern states would experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies over the inland cities in the morning with chances of localised thunderstorm over Owerri, Enugu, Umuahia, and Akure in the afternoon and evening hour.
It also predicted possibilities of morning thunderstorms over Calabar, Port Harcourt, Yenegoa, Warri and Benin, while localised thunderstorm are not unlikely over the entire region in the afternoon and evening hours.
The agency further predicted day and night temperatures in the range of 32 to 37 and 21 to 26 degrees Celsius respectively over the southern states.
According to NiMet, Northern States will experience partly cloudy to sunny condition with localised thunderstorms over Yelwa and Kaduna in the morning, while sunny condition is expected over the north eastern part.
NiMet predicted: “There are chances of localised thundery activities over Sokoto, Kano, Zaria and Bauchi in the afternoon and evening hours with day and night temperatures in the ranges of 35 to 40 and 16 to 26 degrees Celsius respectively.
“There are indications for localised thunderstorm over most parts of the southern region of the country and slim chances over the northern regions in the next 24 hours.”
