The Head of Secretariat of the Intergovernmental Group of Twenty-four ( G+24) , Dr. Iyabo Masha, has stated that the organization has perfected all necessary arrangements to hold its first conference in Nigeria’s nation capital, Abuja.
The event is scheduled to be held at Transcorp Hilton in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja from February 18 to 20, 2026.
It will have five technical sessions which will discuss development financing, domestic resource management and taxation of digital services such as the activities of Google
Addressing newsmen in Abuja, Dr Masha recalled that G-24 was established about 54 years ago at a time of severe global economic disruptions, with the primary objective of giving developing countries a collective voice in engagements with advanced economies.
She said the group was formed to represent the interests of major economies in the Global South on issues ranging from exchange rate policies and development financing to international taxation aneconomie
Masha noted that the dominance of the United States dollar in global transactions continues to shape economic outcomes for developing economies.
According to her, dollars account for 58 percent of global transaction, she called for the need for global economic policies to better reflect the challenges faced by poorer economies.

It would be recalled that G24 was formed about 54 years ago at a very challenging times with issues similar to those the world is facing now: including problems of financial architecture, trade tariff policies among others affecting the global south.
Intergovernmental Group of Twenty-four ( G+24) , is based in Washington DC. It usually holds ministerial level meetings on the sidelines of the World Bank conference. The G24 usually strategizes on what position to take on issues resulting from World Bank/IMF meetings.
