Muslim pilgrims from Plateau State have been warned to uphold the true tenets of Islamic doctrine and obey the constituted rules of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The Executive Secretary of the State pilgrims welfare board, Alhaji Salisu Musa, on Wednesday while addressing intending pilgrims at the formal opening of a Four days orientation exercise held at the Conference hall of the Jos Central Mosque.
“As Muslims you are enjoined to do things on the right ways as thought in Islam. You should also be mindful of the constituted rules of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and obey them,” he said.
Musa explained that the aim of the orientation was to acquaint intending pilgrims of what is expected of them to do while at the holy land.
“As intending pilgrims you should be conscious of hygiene and cleanliness. You are also not to panic while at the holy land because the Saudi Authority have made arrangement to screen pilgrims on the scourge of Ebola virus,” he admonished.
The Secretary reiterated his call on the pilgrims to be aware of fraudsters, saying; “you should keep safe your cheques and be aware of how to about exchanging it.”
He said the State pilgrims are to be airlifted by Saudi Airline, whose departure will commence and last for only two days from September 16-17, to arrive in Madina.
He warned about excess baggage.
In his welcoming remarks the Chairman of the board Alhaji Ado Ismail Shege, said previous contingents of the State have shown sense of discipline and couple with proper arrangement the State was ranked 3rd among the best, by the Suadi Arabian Authority.
“Therefore I urge you all to upholds the same spirit if discipline and good moral values,” he called.
According to him the State Governor has reappointed the Emir of Kanam his Royal highness Alhaji Muhammad Baban, as the State Amirul Hajj.
He said the state Government is sponsoring 200, while the 17 Local Government Areas of the State will sponsors 150 sits out of the 1,274 and was approved by the Governor.
