Serie A side, AC Milan, have completed the signing of Chelsea midfielder, Michael Essien, on a free transfer, subject to the completion of a medical.
Essien had fallen down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge this season and has been linked with a move to Italy these past few weeks.
Now, the Ghanaian has completed his move to Milan on an 18-month deal.
Essien won two Premier League titles with the Blues, as well as four FA Cups and was an unused substitute in Chelsea’s Champions League Final win in 2012.
He spent last year on loan to Real Madrid, but returned to Stamford Bridge with Jose Mourinho, and played nine games in total this season.
Chelsea boss, Mourinho, informed that the 31-year-old had the final choice of whether to make the move, while also praising his long-serving player,
Milan, who have recently appointed former player, Clarence Seedorf, as manager, are currently languishing in 11th place in the Italian top flight, a colossal 30 points behind leaders, Juventus.
