Legislative Candidates sign developmental agreement with electorates in Niger

Candidates vying for various legislative positions in Niger state over the weekend signed pledge cards to provide portable water and other basic amenities if voted into power.
This, according to the Public and Private Development Centre is part of plans to ensure that manifestoes are adhered to after assumption of offices.
In her opened remarks, the Program Director, Public and Private Development Centre, Ifeoma Onyebuchi, said at a citizen engagement townhall meeting in Minna that there is the need for policy makers to prioritize water supply, sanitation and hygiene in the annual budget.
Onyebuchi said: “in pursuance to the rights of citizens and indigenous people of Lanle community, Lavun Local government, Yelwa community, Again LGA and Kaidna community in Bosso LGA of Niger state, we demand that those vying for legislative positions provide adequate funding for inclusive and sustainable basic water supply.
“They must provide sanitation services and functional handwashing facilities in schools and other public spaces in communities across the state.”
She also urged them to promote accountability and transparency by providing timely access to information on budget and procurement processes.
The legislative candidates who are vying for seats either at the National Assembly or state House of Assembly unanimously signed and agreed to provide water, sanitations and hygienic environments.

The candidates present, while pledging to adhere to policies that will better the lives of the people assured that they will manage public affairs of their various constituencies for effective socio-economic transformation.
Those present include, Fati Abubakar, state House of Assembly ADP, Chanchaga, Mohammed Dada, PDP Bosso/Paikoro federal constituency and Suleiman Abdul PRP, Chanchaga Federal constituency.
