The management of Kaduna United Football Club on Friday announced the sacking of the club’s Technical Director, Ben Duamlong, over alleged poor performance.
Bashir Zubairu, the Chairman of the club’s Technical Committee, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Kaduna that the move was to save the club from relegation.
Zubairu, who is also the state Commissioner for Sports, said this was because the club’s performance so far this season in the Nigeria Professional Football League had been unimpressive.
He said: “Since the beginning of the season, the performance of the team is not commendable.
“They are always losing matches.”
The official said a new Technical Director would soon be appointed to work on the team’s weaknesses in order to improve its performance before the 2013/2014 Glo Premier League ends.
Duamlong’s sacking may be related to Kaduna United’s 1-2 home loss to Sharks FC of Port Harcourt in a Glo Premier League match on Wednesday.
“With the last result of the home match played at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium against Sharks FC of Port Harcourt, it is clear that the team is not doing well and needs to be worked upon,” Zubairu said.
When contacted on the issue, Duamlong told NAN he was yet to be served with a letter to that effect.
“I have heard of this too from some quarters, but I am yet to receive any letter of termination of appointment,” he said.
Kaduna United is now 18th on the 20-club league log with 17 points from eight matches.
