The Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission Academy will partner with universities in Nigeria to run diploma and postgraduate programmes in anti-corruption, an official has said.
The provost of the academy, Prof. Sola Akinrinade, made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja on Monday.
Akinrinade said: “We are proposing to run certificate, diploma and postgraduate programmes in anti-corruption in partnership with some universities in the country.
“These programmes are meant to build the capacity of practitioners in anti-corruption practice.”
He also said that the academy was working on plans to partner some universities outside the country to run some of the programmes.
“We are not a university. We are just an academy of the ICPC but we want to collaborate with existing institutions that have the mandate to run these programmes,” Akinrinade said.
According to him, courses run by the academy are not open to the public to apply and be admitted but for specialists in the field of anti-corruption or related areas.
The provost said the academy also served as a research centre for anti-corruption studies in line with its research policy.
Akinrinade said: “We are to work with university academics that will be coming here on sabbatical to be part of our research work.
“We will develop research profile for institutions such that ICPC academy will be the nerve centre for information on anti-corruption in Nigeria.”
