The Kano State Hisbah Board on Tuesday said it had confiscated two trailers fully loaded with cartons of beer.
Malam Adamu Yahaya, the Board’s Public Relations Officer, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Kano that the truck carrying the beer was apprehended around Zaria road on Monday morning during a special patrol.
Yahaya said: “We received information through our intelligence that two trailers entering Kano is carrying cartons of beer.
“Our men on duty apprehended the driver and motor mates,we screened and took them to the Magistrates’ Court for prosecution under Kano State Law No 4 of 2004 which ban manufacture and use of intoxicant in the state.”
Yahaya also said that the board has received 477 cases on marriage dispute, debt, drug abuse, disputes between neighbours, immorality, intimidation, lost and found items, breast feeding, among others.
Yahaya also advised the general public to shun any form of immorality and be each other’s keeper and live in peace and unity.
