To give succour to the less-privileged, the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams, is set to visit some orphanages, old people’s homes and schools for the physically-challenged to mark his 55th birthday.
Iba Adams made this disclosure on Wednesday during a private ceremony held at his Lagos State residence to mark his 55th birthday.
The ceremony, which had clerics offering prayers to God for preserving Adams to witness another year, had family and close associates in attendance.
Though the grand celebration party is scheduled for Sunday, May 11, 2025, the prayers kicked off a seven-day programme of activities to mark the birthday.
Iba Adams said: “During the seven days, we would be visiting children homes, orphanages, motherless babies’ homes, school for the physically-challenged and homes for the elderly, all across Lagos State.
“The essence is to enable us make some donations and show love to the leas-privileged in the society.”
Born on April 30, 1970 at Arigidi-Akoko in the present Akoko North-West Local Government Area of Ondo state, Iba Adams had his education at the Army Children’s School, Oturkpo, Benue State before his father moved to Lagos State, where he completed his primary education at Municipal Primary School, Surulere in 1980.

He attended Ansar-Ud-deen Secondary School, Randle Avenue, Surulere and later went to train in furniture-making and interior decoration, which he completed in 1987.
Upon completion, he was employed by an Italian construction company, Visinoni Stabilini, Apapa, Lagos.
He later resigned to start his own business.
Adams holds a Diploma in History and Strategic Studies and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the Lagos State University (LASU).
Iba Adams was a part of the pro-democracy movement in the 90s as he served as the Public Relations Officer of Mushin Local Government Area chapter of the Campaign for Democracy (CD) in 1993.
He is one of the nine foundation members of the Oodua People’s Congress, a Yoruba nationalist organisation.
He was the first Deputy National Coordinator and became the National Coordinator of the group in 1998.
He is the Convener, Oodua Progressive Union (OPU); Convener, Yoruba Unity Group; Global Convener, Yoruba One Voice (YOV); Convener, Southwest Security Stakeholders Group (SSSG); and Chief Promoter, Olokun Festival Foundation (OFF) among other groups.
In 2018, Iba Adams was declared the 15th Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland by the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III.
Before then, he had been honoured with 54 chieftaincy titles across Nigeria and some African countries.
