Nigeria’s D’Tigers began their campaign in the 2019 FIBA World Cup qualifier on a bright note, beating Uganda by 109-66 at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos on Friday.
In the first quarter, the Alex Nwora-led side led by 30-21 points, just as the African champions extended the lead by 21-14 before the break.
On resumption for the third and fourth quarters, Nigeria kept her dominance by 30-17 and 28-14 points.
Nigeria will play her second game of the series against Rwanda on Saturday at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
The tie will dunk off at 8:30pm Nigeria time.
Rwanda beat their Malian counterparts by 82-72 on the opening day of the qualifiers.
