The Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), has warned motorist to desist from over-speeding and dangerous driving during the ’ember months’ to stem incessant cases of road crashes.
The Owode-Ijako, Ogun State Unit Commander of TRACE, Temitope Oseni, gave the warning while speaking with the New Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Monday in Ota, Ogun.
Oseni said that the warning became necessary for motorists, as most road crashes that happened during the ’ember months’ were caused by excessive speeding and dangerous driving.
The Unit Commander urged motorists to exercise patience during the period, saying, “it is usually characterised by increase in vehicular movement and human activities which sometimes resulted to crashes.
“We are appealing to motorists to be careful and refrain from drunk driving that could lead to unnecessary mishaps during the ember months.
“In addition, they should desist from driving against traffic and adhere strictly to average speed limit as some of the roads had been rehabilitated and now motorable but prone to more accident during this period,” he said.
She implored motorists to ensure that they reduce their speed when approaching Council Oil to Market area of Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, to allow pedestrians to pass.
Oseni also enjoined motorists that their vehicles should be properly maintained with functional wipers and tyres to reduce tragedy during the ember months.
