The Founder and Senior Pastor of The Potter’s House, a multicultural, non-denominational church and humanitarian organisation based in Dallas, Texas, United States of America, Bishop T. D. Jakes, on Sunday collapsed during a sermon in the church.
The collapse of the New York Times best-selling author, award-winning filmmaker, and host of the TD Jakes Show ended the service.
According to available information, Jakes, recognised as “America’s Best Preacher” by Time Magazine and “America’s Treasure” by Oprah Winfrey, Bishop Jakes started shaking uncontrollably and dropped his microphone mid-sermon.
He then said: “Oh lord, my strength, my redeemer, let them go in peace.”
As soon as this happened, some staff surrounded him.
The Media Team of the 67-year-old released a statement shortly after the incident.
The statement said: “During today’s service, Bishop TD Jakes experienced a slight health incident and received immediate medical attention following his powerful hour long message.

“Bishop Jakes is stable and under the care of medical professionals.
“The entire Potter’s House family is grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support from the community.
“Thank you for your understanding and continued prayers.”
In a related development, his daughter, Sarah Jakes Roberts, updated the public on the health of Bishop Jakes via a recorded video.
She said: “Hey, family. I know that today has been an interesting day for us, but we didn’t want to lay down without giving you all an update about how everything is going with Bishop.
“Obviously today could have been a tragic day.
“But it wasn’t by the mercy of God, by the grace of God.
“Bishop is doing well.
“He’s recovering well.
“He’s under medical care.
“He’s strong.
“We’re trying to get him to sit down.
“He’s the strong Bishop that we know.
“I’m so grateful that he’s already beginning to improve and I think it’s just a reminder even going into this holiday season week to love on the people who you hold near and dear and just take the time to be grateful for all the people God’s given you.”
