The Leader of the Senate, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, has dismissed reports of an alleged attempt to remove the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio,
Bamidele, on Wednesday, described the reports as misleading and designed to create unnecessary tension within the National Assembly.
Speaking during plenary, Bamidele clarified that no discussions or plans have taken place among senators regarding Akpabio’s removal.
He emphasised that the Senate remains united and focused on pressing national matters rather than being distracted by false claims.
Bamidele said: “There was no attempt by any of our colleagues, nor any discussion about removing the Senate President from office.

“We are fully united and have a zero-tolerance approach to distractions because there are urgent issues of public importance that need our attention.
“Reports like these are clearly meant to create confusion.”
The clarification came in response to remarks by Senator Orji Ozor Kalu, the representative of Abia North Senatorial District, who referenced previous unsuccessful attempts to impeach the Senate president.
Bamidele reaffirmed that there is no intention within the Senate to consider the removal of any of its leadership members, underlining the chamber’s cohesion and focus on governance.
