Golden Eaglets coach, Emmanuel Amuneke, has been rewarded for his effort with promotion to the Flying Eagles alongside his assistants.
Amuneke was member of the Garba Manu technical crew, which won the FIFA World Cup in 2013, but was not promoted alongside his boss.
He was to retain the trophy as head coach of the U-17 team last year, prompting the Technical Committee of the NFF to recommend for his promotion, which was endorsed by the executive committee at its meeting on Tuesday in Abuja.
The committee was however silent on what becomes of Garba Manu with the promotion of Amuneke to the Flying Eagles.
The duo of Kabiru Baleria and Emeka Amadi will assist Amuneke as coach and goalkeeper trainer respectively.
In the same vein, the committee, after reviewing the dwindling fortunes of the Super Falcons, has concluded to appoint a foreign technical adviser for the team within the shortest possible time, while the former captain of the team, Florence Omagbemi, Perpetua Nkwocha and Ann Chiejine will assist the expatriate, with Bala Mohammed as goalkeepers’ trainer.
Omagbemi will however head the crew in the acting capacity until the arrival of the foreign coach.
