The Western Security Network Agency, code-named Amotekun Corps, in Ondo State has arrested seven suspects in connection with various crimes in the state and recovered stolen goods valued at N300 million.
This was contained in a statement made available to newsmen on Sunday in Akure by Adetunji Adeleye, the State Commander of the Amotekun Corps.
Adeleye said the arrests and recoveries were part of the ongoing efforts to reduce crime in the state.
According to him, the suspects included those linked to a theft syndicate involving electronics like phones and gadgets stolen in Lagos State and transported to Ondo State through Ojota Motor Park.
He said: “One of the suspects boarded the same bus conveying the goods and repackaged the items into an empty carton during the journey.
“The act was discovered during a stop for fuel, prompting further investigation and the eventual recovery of the stolen goods.
“The goods belong to a licenced electronics dealer in Ondo State and will be returned to the owner after the court processes and the necessary documentation.

“Other suspects were involved in a recent kidnap case.
“The two victims were abducted along Itagbolu Road in Akure North Local Government Area.
“They were rescued six days ago by Amotekun operatives after 96 hours of searching the forest.”
The Commander also said the kidnappers demanded N50 million ransom, but the victims’ families did not pay.
“We advise residents not to pay ransom, and we are glad that most kidnap cases in the last two months have been resolved without payment,” Adeleye said.
