Kidnapped Lagos monarch, Oba Yushau Goriola Oseni, has been released by his abductors.
But this was not before his family and the Lagos State Council of Obas paid a hefty ransom.
Available information had it that the family of the Oniba of Iba and the Lagos State Council of Obas parted with N17 million as ransom.
The kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of N500 million.
However, only N17 million was eventually paid, some sources knowledgeable in the matter told The Eagle Online.
While the family was said to have parted with N12 million, the Lagos State Council of Obas reportedly added another N5 million after the kidnappers refused to release Oba Oseni.
Reports have it that Oseni arrived at his palace between 7pm and 9pm on Saturday.
He was said to have returned via a jetty, paddling himself home after his release by the kidnappers.
As earlier reported by The Eagle Online, one of the kidnappers, identified as General Duba, has been arrested by security operatives.
Both the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, and the Public Relations Officer, Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the development.
Owoseni and Badmos were, however, silent on the issue of ransom payment.
The Lagos State Police Command and the Lagos State Government had advised against the payment of ransom.
