Abia Warriors FC of Umuahia has engaged one of the country’s renowned pensions company to educate and sensitise its players on the need to start up retirement plans while in active football.
The Club Chairman, Pastor Emeka Inyama, who initiated the plan for the players urged them to grab the opportunity with both hands as a way of planning their various life after football.
The Club chairman also emphasised on the need for the players to queue into his initiative as not to end up turning “beggars” after their years of active football.
Trustfund Pension Limited marketing staff who spoke extensively to the players pointed out the need for them to start making plans for life after football because their choice of Career has no pension nor gratuity attached to and the only way to meet up with ends need after football is only by engaging in retirement savings.
The company concluded by stating the way the account will be operated and the “Interest” attached to it and equally went ahead to state that the owner of the account is entitled to have a Next of Kin attached to it and the process still continues even when such a player leaves Abia Warriors.
