The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria has informed all intending pilgrims for the 2026 Hajj that the submission of Health Fitness Certificates is mandatory and must be completed before the official deadline, insisting that reduction in the Hajj quota is not peculiar to Nigeria alone.
This was contained in an announcement circulated among newsmen by Muhammad Sanni Shafii of NAHCON Information and Publication Unit on Saturday.
The announcement hinted that the submission of the Health Fitness document is to enable timely visa processing.
It reads in part: “All intending pilgrims are therefore advised to undergo the required medical screening and submit their certificates without delay. Failure to comply may affect visa issuance.

Meanwhile, NAHCON has clarified that the cut in the country’s Hajj quota from 95,000 to 50,000 is not peculiar to Nigeria.
The Commission explained that the measure applied to all participating countries and was “introduced to mitigate the outbreak of diseases and address logistical and safety concerns”.
Against this background, the Commission urged the public to cooperate and remain assured of its commitment to a safe and well-organized 2026 Hajj.
