Eminent businessman, Dr. David Adeleke, has provided detailed explanation, backed with documents, dates, and figures about his son and Nigeria’s music superstar, David Adeleke, popularly called Davido; a child based in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, Aanu, said to be Davido’s child; and Kemi Olunloyo, a social media journalist. For over two hours, Dr. Adeleke, who does not grant interviews, poured out his heart on the controversial issue at his home in Lagos.
He said it has now become a yearly ritual for Olunloyo to raise the issue of Aanu, riling at the Adeleke family for not accepting a child that has been medically confirmed not to be an Adeleke. He said he has five children – three boys and two girls, with Davido as the baby of the family. He said his children have given him 14 grandchildren, adding that he would not mind adding Aanu as the 15th, if only she is an Adeleke.
Dr. Adeleke said since his wife died, he has been living in the Lagos home and that his grandchildren who are in Nigeria spend the weekend with him. He told the few newsmen who attended the briefing that with the level of intelligence of Aanu, having her as a grandchild would have been a pride for him along with the other equally brilliant ones already in his family.
He, however, said from all scientific investigations, Aanu is not an Adeleke. According to the Osun State-born businessman and elder brother of Governor Ademola Adeleke, five DNAs have been conducted to verify the claim of Aanu’s mother, Ayotomide, that Davido impregnated her during a show in Ibadan.
He said his attention was first drawn to the claim when he received a letter from a law firm in 2014 that Davido impregnated a lady in Ibadan and fled. Dr. Adeleke said on receiving the letter, which was accompanied by another one written by Ayotomide’s mother, who is Aanu’s grandmother, he turned to Davido, asking him for the truth in the case. Davido, he said, denied ever having had anything to do with any lady when he went for the show in Ibadan.
Based on this, he called Ayotomide and her mother to know if they would be willing to subject the child to a DNA test. They agreed. He sent his driver to bring them to Lagos from Ibadan. He also ordered Davido to fly back to Nigeria for the test. He did.
Dr. Adeleke said the first sample was taken at a prestigious hospital in Lagos and sent outside the country for analysis. The result said the chances of Davido being the father of Aanu was 0 percent. However, the grandmother of Aanu cried foul, saying she saw Davido with a big envelope that contained money with which he bribed the lab workers.

A second DNA test was thus needed, with Dr. Adeleke suggesting that the Ibadan-based family, the Labinjos, should nominate their preferred hospital for the test. As such, there were two tests on Davido and Aanu the second time the family came to Lagos.
Owing to insinuations Davido and B-Red, his cousin, could have had a threesome with Ayotomide, B-Red also underwent a DNA test. B-Red, Adebayo Adeleke, whose middle name is also David, also went through two DNA tests because he was also at the show in Ibadan. Both returned negative.
Dr. Adeleke said one of the most shocking things in the letter he got from the lawyer in Ibadan were the names on the birth certificate of Aanu. She was identified as Aanu Adeleke and the mother as Ayotomide Adeleke.
In the letter of Aanu’s grandmother attached to the one from the lawyer, dated November 19, 2013, she said her demand was for the little girl to be taken care of and not for Davido to marry Ayotomide.
Dr. Adeleke said both Ayotomide and her mother were disappointed with the result of the test and started crying. Following the cry of foul play, he said he advised them to stay on in Lagos for two more tests. He then paid for them to be in a hotel till the following day.
However, at about 7pm, his driver, who took them to the hotel called to inform him that he was in Ibadan. He said Aanu’s grandmother insisted on returning home after the result of the test, which was opened in their presence, turned out the way they didn’t expect.
Dr. Adeleke said after this, he heard nothing from the family until he received a call from the Ooni of Ife. He said they sought the intervention of the Osun State first class monarch, having told him that David bribed them in the hospital to change the result of the DNA test. He said the Labinjo family also contacted the monarch of his hometown, the Timi of Ede. They demanded that Davido should accept Aanu without any further DNA test. He said it was at this stage that Olunloyo took over their case, opening an Instagram page later in the name of Aanu, a minor.
In late 2020, Dr. Adeleke said he got a call from Ayotomide’s younger sister who stays in Abuja for another confirmatory test. This was when the test was also conducted on B-Red following insinuations they could have had a threesome with Ayotomide, which she vehemently denied. While they chose a clinic in Lekki, the Labinjos decided on one in Ilupeju, both in Lagos. When the result came, all negative, the grandmother made the same allegation of having bribed the operators of the laboratories.
At this stage, Dr. Adeleke then showed the newsmen the profile of Davido as contained in the DNA tests for the musician and three of his other children: Imade, late Ifeanyi, and another one based in the United Kingdom. He said the tests were not conducted because of paternity dispute but because the children needed to obtain their US citizenship, with the DNA test result a prerequisite.
Following the outcome of the test on Davido and Aanu, Ayotomide’s sister then called Dr. Adeleke to not treat Aanu as his granddaughter but add her to the list of those who benefit from his philanthropy. According to available records, there are no fewer than 3,000 persons on scholarships funded by Adeleke.
Aanu and Ayotomide became beneficiaries. While he paid for Aanu to go to school in Ibadan, the mother was enrolled to study English at Adeleke University in Osun State. Apart from the tuition free education, Ayotomide was also receiving N50,000 monthly support. The mother had dropped out of school owing to the pregnancy.
So while Olunloyo was using the Instagram handle opened for Aanu to attack the Adelekes, Ayotomide was benefiting from the work study programme that covered everything she needed and provided her with N50,000 monthly at Adeleke University, while Aanu needs, including school fees, were fully met by Dr. Adeleke.
She did two years and was performing well until her mother showed up in the school with a demand: She should return home to take responsibility for her child.
But a shocker awaited the mother when she showed up at Adeleke University:
Ayotomide confided in Dr. Sikiru Adeleke she slept with a man around the period she claimed to have had sex with Davido.
The picture of the man fitted one that could have fathered Aanu. He was light in complexion like Aanu.
When probed further, Aanu admitted that she had gone to the man to tell him about the development, However, she said the man in question told her that she should not upset the peace in his home as he is married. She has remained adamant till date on going to the man for a DNA test.
Dr. Adeleke said his position was that even if the man in question was not going to accept responsibility for Aanu, it would put a closure to who her real father is. He said: “Aanu needs closure.” He said Ayomitode confided in Dr. Sikiru Adeleke that she slept with the man who works in a bank at the time, adding that they dated before he got married. He, however, refused a DNA test.
He said following the decision of his sister to bring up the matter with Ayotomide’s mother, that was the last day they saw her in school. And then the online battle involving Olunloyo intensified. However, the N50,000 she was receiving monthly was not stopped until October 2025, which was two years after she abandoned school.
Aanu has now become a grown up girl, graduating from primary school. She not only did well academically, she was the head girl of her set. Dr. Adeleke was sent the graduation photographs and video on October 24, 2025. He has also told Ayotomide to return to Adeleke University “for the sake of her future”.
Following the decision of Olunloyo to make the DNA results of the test conducted on Davido and Aanu, the Adelekes are contemplating suing her. That would be the next line of action after the full revelation by Dr. Adeleke.
