The State’s Commissioner for Human Services and Social Development, Rabi Salisu disclosed this on Tuesday at a Press briefing in Kaduna.

The Commissioner spoke at the Gender-Based Stakeholders Meeting/Conference organised by the Ministry in collaboration with Centre for Integrated and Health Programmes (CIHP).

This followed the presentation of the report by the Chairperson, Senate Committee on Women Affairs, Sen. Betty Apiafi during plenary.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the law provides surgical castration and removal of Fallopian tubes for male and female convicts respectively upon conviction of raping a child.

El-Rufai made the remarks when a group of women, advocating for justice for rape victims, staged a peaceful rally at the Government House in Kaduna on Monday.

Dr. Aisha Lemu, North Central Coordinator and the State Chairperson of the group, made the call when she led other members on a peaceful protest to the Government House in Minna on Thursday.

Kaigama, who made the call in his homily on Sunday in Abuja at Charles Lwanga Parish, Apo, also urged Nigerians to pray for the victims of sexual crimes.

The Minister of Women Affairs, Pauline Tallen, made this known at the end of the fourth meeting of the Council, which was presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari, at the State House, Abuja.

The call was made through a Save Our Souls letter by Edda Intervention and Rescue Initiative, a group pressing for the rights of people of Edda clan, and submitted to the IGP in Abuja.

Austine Elemue, Special Assistant on Media to the Minister, in a statement on Sunday said Aliyu made the call while presenting palliative items to the FCT National Council of Women Societies and other unions.

In addition to life jail, the Ekiti State government, in collaboration with the office of Wife of the Governor, is making moves to amend the gender-based law to carry capital punishment such as medical castration of rapists and defilers.

The cleric made the call at the weekend during a sermon at the burial ceremony of Chief Thomas Olonisakin in Igbemo Ekiti. 

Gaidam while signing the law in Damaturu, said that government took a proactive action in view of the rampant cases of rape, kidnapping and unnatural offences being reported across the country.

Ambode made the recommendation during a symbolic walk against domestic and sexual violence at Alausa.

The minister said member nations had put in place diverse measures to curb the menace and stressed the need for Nigeria to do same
