The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the competition, organised by an NGO, Robert Sunday Iworiso Foundation, was aimed at encouraging creative writing amongst the youth in the state.

They stated this at an event tagged: “A Day with Nobel laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, and Ijaw Literary Icons”

The inauguration ceremony was performed at Kaiama, Kolokumo/Opokuma Local Government Area of Bayelsa State
