The upcoming election will determine who succeeds the current president, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, who has led the bank since 2015.

In his goodwill message to the Feed Africa Summit of Heads of State and Government, the President called on his counterparts to embrace innovative policies that ensure the continent’s citizens eat what they produce as well as export the surplus. 

 This was disclosed by the Old Boys’ Association of the school in the programme of activities lined up for the week-long event, which kicks off on 16 January with a city-wide road walk in Abeokuta.

Adesina said this at the Adeola Odutola Lecture, Manufacturers Association of Nigeria Annual Meeting while making his presentation entitled ‘Overcoming Binding Constraints to Competitive Manufacturing for Intra-Regional Trade’.

According to a statement issued by the bank on Tuesday, Lamin Barrow, a Gambian national, joined the African Development Bank in 2000. Prior to his appointment, he was Acting Senior Director, Nigeria Country Office, in the Regional Development, Integration & Business Development Vice Presidency. 

Apparently reacting to an alleged plan by former President Olusegun Obasanjo to draft the current president of the African Development Bank (ADB), Dr. Akinwunmi Adesina, into the 2023 presidential race, the organization noted that whereas three Yoruba Christians have occupied Aso Rock Villa, no single Yoruba Muslim has held the post of president or vice president since independence.

The NFF supremo. recently elected into world football’s highest decision-making organ, FIFA Council, was in eminent company with President of world football-governing body FIFA, Gianni Infantino, and the President of CAF, Dr. Patrice Motsepe, as they paid a visit to the President of the African Development Bank, Dr. Akinwunmi Adesina, in Abidjan.

The governor said that his administration was committed to improving agricultural outputs of the state so that it could take its pride of place and take many unemployed youths out of the streets.

The bank also wants developed countries to extend the period of debt repayment and forgiveness in such a way that the period of deferment continues to be helpful to African countries.

Themed: “For a Greater Lagos: Setting The Tone For The Next Decade,” Ehingbeti 2021 has drawn about 150 speakers from across the world to discuss and deliberate on pragmatic optimisation of the inherent opportunities in Africa’s fifth largest economy and offer perspectives on how to manage the peculiar socio-economic landscape of Lagos State in the coming decade.

Speaking, virtually, at the First National Tax Dialogue held at the Conference Hall of the State House, the President ordered all government agencies to automate operations and ensure more synergy in advancing the interest of the nation in revenue generation.

In a congratulatory message signed by Abdulwahid Olowonjaye and Hon. Abbas Agbara, Chairman and Secretary respectively, the group said they were not surprised on Adesina’s re-election owing to his past track records.

Amadou Hott, the bank’s Vice President for Power, Energy, Climate Change and Green Growth Complex, made the pledge when he led a delegation of the Bank on a visit to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at the Presidential Villa, Abuja

Adesina said the aviation sector was very important to the continent but that it could not operate in the dark.

He added that though the sector fared better in 2016, it still remained the riskiest skies to fly in.
