Professor heading home shot dead in Ibadan

The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the murder of Prof. Opeyemi Ajewole of University of Ibadan by gunmen.

The News Agency of Nigeria gathered that he is a Professor of Social and Environmental Forestry at the university.

Ajewole was killed on Monday night on his way home.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Adewale Osifeso, confirmed the incident in a message sent to NAN on Tuesday in Ibadan.

Osifeso said: “The matter is under investigation.

“Updates would be provided accordingly.”

Also, a Lecturer in the institution, who preferred to be anonymous, said Ajewole was killed while driving home.

The Lecturer said: “It is true.

“He was killed last night while returning home.

“They shot him and took his car away.”
