Manny Pacquiao has revealed that he thought he had beaten Floyd Mayweather Jr in their money-spinning Las Vegas, United States of America showdown.
The man from the Philippines had plenty of support at the MGM Grand Garden, but the American’s movement and counter punching saw him take an unanimous points decision and add the WBO welterweight title to his WBA and WBC belts.
However, Pacquiao looked to raise his arms in victory after the final bell and, following the decision, the 36-year-old believed he might have been ahead.
He told HBO: “It’s a good fight, I thought I won. He didn’t do nothing, just moved outside.
“I got him many times. I think I won the fight. He is moving around and it’s not easy to throw a lot of punches if your opponent moves around.
“I can handle his power, it’s not strong like other opponents. It’s not about size. I’ve been fighting bigger than him and it’s not a problem.”
Pacquiao has now lost six fights in his professional career.
