The Osun State Security Network Agency, Amotekun Corps, says it has recovered a Toyota Matrix car and six television sets that were allegedly stolen by armed robbers at a hotel in Ode-Omu area of the state in Ogun State.
The spokesperson of the Amotekun Corps, Yusuf Idown, made this known in a statement he issued to newsmen on Tuesday in Osogbo, Osun State.
Idowu said the car and televisions were stolen during an alleged armed robbery incident on May 17 at the hotel in Ode-Omu.
He said that the suspects were chased up to Ogere in Ogun State, where they abandoned the car and other items and escaped into the bush.
According to him, some armed robbers had, in the early hours of May 17, stormed a hotel in Ode-Omu, Ayedaade Local Government Area of Osun State and robbed some hotel guests who came from Lagos to attend a funeral ceremony.

He said: “During the attack, the robbers carted away a Toyota Matrix vehicle valued at N7 million, along with six LG 42-inch televisions worth over N3 million.
“The recovery operation, which took place in Ogere, Ogun State, was carried out after a gun duel between the robbers and Amotekun operatives, with the support of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogere Command.”
Idowu stated that when the robbery was reported at the Amotekun Corps Command in Ayedaade, they swiftly swung into action in collaboration with the Amotekun State Command, and went after the robbers.
He said the robbers engaged the corps in a serious gun battle, but due to the superior firepower of the Amotekun operatives, they were forced to divert to Ogere in Ogun State, where they abandoned the stolen vehicle and fled into the bush.
He, however, said some of the robbers sustained gunshot wounds.
He said the Osun State Amotekun Corps Commander, Adekunle Omoyele, commended the operatives for their gallantry and acknowledged the support of the FRSC, Ogere Unit for their collaboration in achieving the feat.
He said the recovered items were formally handed over to their rightful owners on Monday by the Corps’ Operations Commander, Olagunju Joseph, at the Amotekun State Headquarters in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.
