The President of the Senate, Senator David Mark, and a former Governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Kalu, have condemned the bombing of the Saint Rita’s Catholic Church in Malali, Kaduna, Kaduna State.
Mark, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Paul Mumeh, said the bombing was disheartening, embarrassing and condemnable.
He said: “We don’t deserve this.
“This is inhuman and alien to us.
“Let’s put our differences aside and join hands with the government and security operatives to halt these senseless killings.
“We have enough channels to iron out any differences.
“Let us give peace a chance.”
Kalu, in a statement by his Special Adviser, Media, Emeka Obasi, said it was despicable for anyone to attack a place of worship.
He said religious tolerance remains an hallmark of any nation that wants to develop.
Kalu said: “It has become apparent that security agents have a lot more to do in terms of intelligence gathering.
“If those who are in the business of bombing are not relenting despite all entreaties and move to ensure religious harmony, then the security agents should up their game by preventing the attacks on places of worship and other areas.
“We should not continue to live our lives in a reactionary manner but proactively.”
