A 43-year-old man, Brown Abu, who allegedly used a broken block to hit a man, was on Thursday docked in an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun.
The Police charged Abu, whose address was not provided, with assault and breach of peace.
The Police Prosecutor, E.O. Adaraloye, told the court that the defendant committed the offences at about 7.00 a.m., at No. 5 Temple St., Lafenwa Itele, Ota.
Adaraloye said the defendant assaulted the complainant, Jeremiah Josu, by using a broken block to hit him on his forehead, thus causing him injury.
He also said that the defendant conducted himself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by removing his clothes and pursuing one Blessing Williams with the broken block.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened sections 249(d) and 355 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Magistrate, A. O. Adeyemi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.
Adeyemi ordered that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to Ogun Government.
She adjourned the case until June 30, for further hearing.
