The Lagos State Police command says it has arrested six suspected notorious armed robbers allegedly behind the May 11, 2022 robbery attack on Mambillah Hotel, Owutu, Ikorodu.
A spokesman for the command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said on Thursday that the apprehension of the suspects followed a diligent and discreet investigation led and closely monitored by CP Abiodun Alabi.
Hundeyin said that the suspects were traced to their hideout at Oju-irin Abattoir in Lagos where they were eventually nabbed.
He gave the names of the suspects as Lekan Adeoye, Ojo Akeredolu, Quadri Balogun, Ahmed Oke, John Toluwalashe and Azeez Akinpelu.
Hundeyin said that the seventh suspect, identified simply as Taye, was killed during a gun duel with the police officers.
The spokesman said: “It will be recalled that the armed gang invaded the hotel, robbed guests of their valuables and shot dead the hotel security guard in their bid to escape after the Police arrived the scene.
“Items recovered from the suspects are two locally-made pistols with 11 live cartridges. The hotel supervisor and other staff earlier arrested have since been released after investigations cleared them of any incrimination
“The suspects have been arraigned in court as the investigation is currently being concluded.”
