FIFA Under-17 World Cup winner, Nwankwo Kanu, has commended the Golden Eaglets for their heroic feat at the just ended African Cadets Championship in Morocco.
The Manu Garba-tutored lads lost by 4-5 on penalties after regulation time ended one goal apiece.
Kanu, who is a Nigerian soccer ambassador, believes the boys deserve some commendations for making it to the final of the competition and also qualifying for the Under-17 World Cup in Turkey.
His words: “No matter what happened, I’m proud of these boys and they are champions and they will go far at the World Cup in Turkey.
“We must encourage these lads to do better at the World Cup because they have the potentials to shock the world when the fiesta begins in Turkey.
“I know the Nigeria Football Federation would start working from now and ensure that everything are in place for the team to put smiles in our face.
“Football is like a biscuit which can break anywhere, so I believe the Eaglets will soar in Turkey because it is not done and dusted for the team.”
