The three tiers of government have again been charged to appropriate more fund to sports development in view of its potentials to stem youth restiveness.
The Chairman of Directors of Sports Forum in Nigeria, Coach Tunde Kazeem, gave the charge in a congratulatory message to Nigerians on the success recorded by the Super Falcons.
Coach Kazeem, who is the Kwara State Director of Sports, described the Super Falcons resounding victory as a welcome development.
He attributed it to hardwork, commitment, perseverance and doggedness on the part of the team.
The Chairman appreciated the efforts of the girls for winning the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations for a record eighth time and Coach Florence Omagbemi for creating another record of winning the trophy as a player and now as a Coach.
The Forum called on the Federal Government to do the needful and adequately compensate the players for their efforts in bringing glory to the Nation.
Kazeem urged the three tiers of government to stop paying lip service to sports development, describing it as a way gaining engaging the youth positively.
The Super Falcons won the 10th edition of the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations for the eighth time beating the host, Cameroon, 1-0 in the final.
Asisat Oshoala also won the golden boot of the tournament, having scored six goals.
