Coach of the victorious Golden Eaglets team, Manu Garba, has taken a swipe at the father of UAE 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup revelation, James Iheanacho, for forcing the youngster, Kelechi, to sign for Premier League giants, Manchester City.
According to Garba, coaches can only advice their players on moves to make when offers are pouring in but lack the capacity to force any deal on them.
He said: “Iheanacho is a talented player and can blossom at any club but I was not satisfied when I heard that Man City doesn’t have a serious academy as other clubs who were interested in him.
“The young player confessed to me that he wanted to join FC Porto but his father insisted that his son should go to Man City because of money and there is little or nothing we can do since Kelechi is still a minor.
“We can only assist the player in prayers as he goes to Man City because his father has the final say in this case.”
