Bruno Fernandes has broken David Beckham’s long-standing record for the most assists in a single Premier League season for Manchester United, moving clear at the top of the playmaker standings.
The Portuguese midfielder reached 16 assists after setting up two goals in United’s 3–1 win over Aston Villa on Sunday, surpassing Beckham’s previous mark of 15 assists set in the 1999/2000 season.
Fernandes now leads the Premier League assist chart by a wide margin, with his tally double that of closest challenger Rayan Cherki of Manchester City, who has eight assists.
Erling Haaland follows with seven, while Jarrod Bowen, Harry Wilson, Mohamed Salah and Jack Grealish are joint fourth on six assists.
Fernandes has been in strong form in 2026, recording nine assists in 10 matches to pull clear in the race for the Castrol Playmaker of the Season award.

His current total also puts him within reach of the Premier League’s all-time single-season assist record of 20, jointly held by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.
Fernandes has also claimed four Premier League Player of the Matchweek awards this season, more than any other player.
