The 43-year-old Gardener of Jubril Martins Memorial Grammar School, Iponri, Lagos State, Femi Aderonmu, has been arrested by the police for killing a Senior Secondary School 3 student of the school, Adagun Rafiu.
The 16-year-old student was attacked by the Gardener on May 15, 2019 at about 4:40pm after he finished writing one of his papers in the ongoing examination of the West African Examination Council.
According to available information, Aderonmu challenged Rafiu who was on his way home along Oke-Olu Road, Iponri, accusing him of having insulted him earlier.
The Gardener hurled the student down.
Rafiu, according to eyewitnesses, collapsed on the spot and was rushed to Smith Medical Hospital in the area, where he later died.
Operatives of Iponri Police Station on May 16, 2019 arrested Aderonmu based on a complaint received from the school.
The spokesman of the Lagos State Police Command, Bala Elkana, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said Homicide Detectives from State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba, have visited the crime scene.
Elkana said the corpse of the deceased has been deposited at the mortuary for autopsy, adding that the suspect, who is already with the police, will be charged to court for murder.
