Governor Umaru Al-Makura of Nasarawa State has selected Silas Agara, an economist and former commissioner, as his running mate for the 2015 governorship election in the state.
They are contesting on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to Al-Makura, Yakubu Lamai, in Lafia on Monday.
According to the statement, the governor took the decision after consultations with citizens and stakeholders.
It described the running mate as a vibrant politician.
Agara, who was born in 1974, was the Special Adviser to Al-Makura on Sports Development.
He served as the Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development in the state from 2003 to 2005 and was appointed the state Commissioner for Sports Development 2006 to 2008.
Agara also served as the Deputy Director-General of Ta’al Campaign Organisation from 2010 to 2011.
