The Minister of Water Resources, Suleiman Adamu, confirmed this in a statement he issued on Friday
Adamu made the disclosure on Thursday at the presentation of the 2022 Annual Flood Outlook of the Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency in Abuja.
The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Water Resources, Senator Bello Mandiya who made this known while briefing newsmen after the budget defence by the Minister of Water Resources, Engr Suleiman Adamu, said some of the dams were sited where dams cannot even be constructed.
The project, which is being executed under the Transforming Irrigation Management in Nigeria scheme, is supported by the World Bank
The fund comes under the Technical Cooperation Programme, which member states enjoy through the sectors under FAO mandate.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the Ministries of Aviation, Transportation, Federal Capital Territory, Education, Finance, Works and Housing, Foreign Affairs, Water Resources, Power as well as Science and Technology are expected to make presentations at the meeting.
Adamu said this at the 2nd edition of the Nigerian Media Water Week in Abuja on Monday.
The council became the first to attain the status among the 23 local government areas of the state.
Adamu was speaking on the bill while featuring on the News Agency of Nigeria Forum in Abuja.
