He made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Friday in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education, Sonny Echono, said this while monitoring teachers’ Professional Qualifying Examination (PQE), organised by Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria.
The Registrar disclosed that the number of candidates was reduced from over 40,000 as in the previous examination to 17,606, and that the number of batches were also reduced from three to two, due to the COVID-19 pandemic

Prod. Ajiboye made this assertion at the ongoing stakeholders Retreat/workshop on Road Map to Teacher Professionalism and Quality Education in Nigeria in Akwanga, on Wednesday.
Prof. Josiah Ajiboye, its Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, announced the council’s position while interfacing with newsmen shortly after meeting with education stakeholders in the North-West.
“The council under my leadership and the support from the management team and members of staff has made frantic efforts toward restoring the dignity of Nigerian teachers vis-a-vis enhancing teacher quality and professionalism.
