Babandede urged the promoted staff to see their elevation “as a call to give more to the society in terms of improved service delivery and to Government, dedication to duty and loyalty”
Eniolorunda made the disclosure while reacting to the directive by the Comptroller-General of Immigration on passport backlog
Babandede said why it is imperative is because the NIS provides the frontline officers at our land, sea and air borders in the security architecture of Nigeria as in other countries. Therefore, access to the INTERPOL database will improve our border security considerably
The 2,000 applicants were recruited in 2015 following a presidential directive in the aftermath of the Immigration recruitment stampede that led to the death of over 40 persons nationwide, but were later disengaged after three months training
Babandede also called on “passport applicants to always get their breeder documents such as birth certificate, age declaration, certified guarantor’s forms from the right sources to avoid delay in the processing of their passports”.
According to Babandede, in view of the earlier publication for return of official diplomatic passports by former political office holders, charges will be made against unauthorised holders of such documents
