The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) in Ondo State has called on the state government to commence immediate implementation of health workers’ hazard allowance to prevent its members working in the state hospitals from going on strike.

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, said this while briefing newsmen at the end of a meeting between the Presidential Committee on Salaries, relevant Federal Government Stakeholders and Health Professional Associations and Trade Unions on Wednesday in Abuja.
Ngige gave the assurance while speaking at the 41st Ordinary General Meeting of the National Association of Resident Doctors in Awka, Anambra State on Thursday.
The Medical Guild has appealed to the Lagos State Government to extend the increment of hazard allowance to health workers in the state beyond April.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has approved an increase in the hazard allowance of health workers in the state public service from N5,000 to N25,000.
