What we have learnt in the past 18 months calls for common agenda for human race, an opportunity for collaboration to search for sustainable solutions to the myriad challenges facing the continent. This also reinforces the fact that until we are comfortable, no part of the globe is comfortable. This provides a completely new direction between developed worlds, developing worlds and whatever categorization that you want to bring to the table. With people having to stay at home because of the pandemic, we quickly saw that being disconnected from the economy fabric is much more dangerous than the health risk that we are trying to avoid from the social distancing and stay at home”.

Also, the bank is making special infrastructure loans available to educational institutions. This, according to the bank, will equip them adequately for the new session. Announcing the various ‘back to school’ initiatives of the bank in Lagos, Head, Consumer Banking, Korede Demola-Adeniyi, said it is in line with the bank’s overall strategy to support the development of the nation’s education sector, adding that Ecobank’s digital offerings are targeted at reducing the financial burden on parents, students and schools, and also facilitating the ease of payment of fees without hassles.

The Ecobank Nigeria Managing Director noted that though Nigeria has made moderate progress in terms of infrastructure development regarding improved access to finance, strong telecom penetration and moderating power production, there is limited productivity in the transport sector when compared to other sectors and regions. He lamented that private sector involvement in infrastructure development is constrained by selection of low-impact projects; weak feasibility study and business plan; delays in obtaining licenses, approvals and permits, and inability to secure guarantees.

Announcing the winners in Lagos, Korede Demola-Adeniyi, Head, Consumer Banking, said the scheme was designed by Ecobank to reward customers’ loyalty. She lauded the level of participation and interest generated by the scheme. She explained that the four millionaires had the highest deposit and transaction value across the regions of the country within the campaign period.

Speaking at the virtual launch on Friday, Managing Director, Ecobank Nigeria, Patrick Akinwuntan who was represented by the Head, Consumer Banking, Korede Demola-Adeniyi , said Ecobank has policies and structures in place that promote gender balance in its employment , stating that the bank also has many initiatives and innovative products targeted at empowering and sustaining female entrepreneurs in Nigeria such as ‘Ellevate’ and ‘Ecobank Female Entrepreneurs Initiative (EFEI)’, which are designed to empower and support female owned small-scale businesses.

Korede Demola-Adeniyi, Head, Consumer Banking, Ecobank Nigeria, who made the announcement in Lagos, said the Ecobank Platinum and Gold credit cards would afford holders the opportunity to shop now and pay later while also ensuring customer safety by eliminating the risk of carrying cash. She added that the Ecobank credit card can be used in-store, on the web and via all digital channels.
