According to reports, the incident occurred in Ikot Abasi Asutan, Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area, where Akaninyene, a father of three, and his late elder brother, Ime Thomas Okpon, ambushed and killed the victim in 2018.
The deceased, until his death, was a student at Community Secondary School, Amachi, in Izzi Local Government Area of the state.
The convict, who resides at Yakasai Quarters, Kano, was convicted on a count charge of culpable homicide.
Justice Ayokunle Rotimi-Balogun delivering her judgment held that all the evidence tendered had convinced the court beyond reasonable doubt that Ibrahim committed the offences as charged.
The police charged Lanre Kayode, 34 and Olanrewaju Aremu, 35, with conspiracy, armed robbery and burglary.
The police had charged the convict with belonging to a prohibited society “Eiye confraternity’’, contrary to Section 4 of the Secret Cult (Abolition and Prohibition) First Amendment Law No. 6, Laws of Ekiti State of Nigeria, 2017.
