Tottenham are eager to tie Dele Alli down to a new and improved contract, according to the Times.
Alli only joined Spurs back in January, putting pen to paper on a five-and-a-half year contract worth £12,000-a-week, as per the report.
But the 19-year-old now looks set to be rewarded for his fine form, with Tottenham willing to double his salary and extend his deal to the end of 2021.
The former MK Dons midfielder has made just 16 appearances since joining the north Londoners on a full-time basis at the start of the season.
He was loaned back to the Dons for the remainder of 2014/15, helping them win promotion to the Championship and being named the Football League Young Player of the Year as a result.
Alli has missed just one Premier League game this term and has established himself as a first-team regular in the heart of Mauricio Pochettino’s midfield, despite having to adjust quickly in making the leap up from League One football.
With over four years remaining on his current deal, Spurs have no need to offer Alli a new contract, but are said to be keen to reward his excellent form and bring his pay closer in line to that of the rest of the current squad, as per the report.
His initial £12,000 per week deal is indicative of Pochettino’s thoughts when bringing the youngster to White Hart Lane.
He was billed as one for the future, but Alli has hit the ground running and proven himself with a number of assuring performances in the elite of the Premier League.
