SGF makes u-turn, agrees to appear before Senate probe panel

The Secretary to the Government of Federation, Babachir Lawal, has agreed to appear before the Senate ad hoc committee set up to probe the usage of funds appropriated for the humanitarian crisis in the North East, occasioned largely by the Boko Haram insurgency.
In another letter to the Senate less than 24 hours after he wrote one saying he would not honor the Senate summons, Lawal asked for another date to appear.
He had on Wednesday written a letter dated March 22 that he would not appear before Senate Ad-hoc Committee on the Mounting Humanitarian Crisis in North-East because the matter is already in Court.‎
However, in another letter written on same the day, Lawal appealed to the Committee to fix the hearing for another date.
The letter reads: “I wish to kindly request that you draw the attention of the other members of the committee that I will not be able to appear before the committee primarily because of a pressing engagement of government which clashed with the date and time of the hearing
“I kindly request a rescheduling of the hearing, please.”
