Manchester United have stepped up their pursuit of Rafael Leão, with club scouts reportedly watching the AC Milan forward during Sunday’s Serie A clash against Juventus.
According to Calcio Mercato, United scouts were present at San Siro as Milan played out a goalless draw with Juventus, with Leão featuring for 81 minutes before being substituted.
The 26-year-old was booed by home supporters as he left the pitch after failing to make the breakthrough in a tense game that left Milan third in the Serie A standings.
United are expected to remain active in the transfer market as they look to strengthen manager Michael Carrick’s squad ahead of next season.
The club had already invested heavily last summer with the arrivals of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko, but attention has now shifted to adding more elite attacking quality.
Leão is increasingly seen as a strong option because of his ability to play both on the left wing and as a central striker.

The report said Milan no longer consider the Portugal international untouchable, with a bid in the region of £52 million likely enough to open talks.
The forward still has two years left on his current contract, but the Italian club may be willing to sell if their valuation is met as they look to balance their finances before the end of the financial year.
