The Lagos State Police Command has moved to address public concern following a viral video showing suspected hoodlums causing chaos on a major road in the state.
The disturbing footage, which surfaced on X, showed a group of young men wielding machetes and chasing one another along an expressway in the Lekki area, sparking fear among residents and motorists.
The command reacted to the development in a post that was shared on Friday on its official X handle: @LagosPoliceNG.

It said it was fully aware of the incident and had already taken necessary steps to restore normalcy.
“The command is aware of the trending video and wishes to inform the general public that it is presently on top of the situation, and necessary actions have been taken,” it stated.
The police assured residents that the situation was under control and urged members of the public to remain calm, while security operatives continued to monitor developments.
The video was initially shared by an X user: @OurFazeOnlineDoc, who drew attention to the incident.
In the clip, some of the individuals were seen openly brandishing machetes and running across the expressway, disrupting traffic and creating panic in the area.
The command urged the public to cooperate with security agencies by providing timely and credible information that could aid ongoing operations.
